Pinocchio Loses His Voice. Cartoon Land In Mourning.

"...........?"

“………..?”

Sadly, cartoon land, yes, the same place where Jessica and Roger Rabbit reside, lost yet another voice. That of Pinocchio.

The voice of Pinocchio was actor Richard Percy Jones who originally voiced the cartoon character beginning in 1940. He was 87.

Oddly enough he was called “Dickie” by his friends and also “Dick Jones,” which scares the bejesus outta me because those are the same names my friends called me and which I used while in broadcasting.

Damn! Hope this isn’t a wake up call here for me.

Anyhow, besides doing the voice of Pinocchio, he also appeared on many TV shows, most notable as Dick West in the old “Range Rider” TV series.

So this got me to thinking. Which is an effort at times when you’re my age. I thought about who were some of the voices behind other cartoon characters that we never see. So, here’s some of them that you might or might not know.

One of the most easiest to figure out was the conductor in “Polar Express.” I mean if ya didn’t know Tom Hanks was the voice of the conductor you had to be an idiot.

WHY?

Well (duh) look at the conductor here……pinocchio 7

Now look at Tom Hanks…….pinocchio 10

Again duh!

By the way, as a side note here, Billy, the little lonely boy in Polar Express. You’d think they would have picked a kid to voice that character. But no…surprise, surprise, they chose actor Peter Scolari…….

You may recall Peter from the TV show Newhart where he played the obnoxious boyfriend of Stephanie Vanderkellen. (Julia Duffy)

But the Tom Hanks one was fairly easy. Unless you do not have good eyesight and still can’t see the similarity. Make an appointment with your optometrist or buy a 90 inch HDTV set.

Not so easy to figure out are other people who voice cartoon characters. Like the Fairy Godmudder in Shrek. Who, by the way, even though she was a bit chunky, still was kinda sexy.

Shrek! Stop ogling my cleavage and tell me your damn wish for cripes sake!

And, so was the woman who voiced her, Jennifer Saunders.

Yep....I cn see why they chose Jennifer for the voice of the Fairy Godmudder

Yep….I can see why they chose Jennifer for the voice of the Fairy Godmudder

Then my all time favorite hot looking vamp, as far as cartoon characters go, Jessica Rabbit. Frankly I could never see what she saw in Roger Rabbit, but, her choice I guess. Maybe his biggggg ears or something.

So who was the voice of this (pant) realllly sexy rabbit….as rabbits  go………

Kathleen Turner.....the voice of Jessica Rabbit

Another animated move that had a major female star voicing that of an ant, “Princess Bala” in the movie “ANTZ,” you’d probably never guess. Unless you’re into ant trivia.

Princess Bala

Sooooooo, if you have ants in your pants or you think you have ants in your pants, it might be due to the fact that the voice of Bala is a woman who would give any guy the feeling of ants in their pants……

Then there’s the movie “Wall E” about some poor robot who’s stranded on a planet all by himself until a female robot  visits and he then goes bonkers spewing oil all over the place……….

WALL E and his new girlfriend

WALL E and his new girlfriend Eve. (minus any fig leaves)

Eve was WALL E’s new-found love. Voiced by actress Elissa Knight.

And this one is from the movie “Avatar.” Yes,  I know this does not fall into the “cartoon” category, so sue me.

I just thought you’d like to see what the character “Neytiri” played by Zoe Saladana looks like in costume and without costume.

And the final one for today………..who does the voice for cartoon character Speaker of the House John Boehner…….

John Boehner

YES….ya got it right….none other than John Boehner…….

Sniff.....

Sniff…..

Boy you people are freakin’ smart.
