Finally! A Celebration I Can Relate To. “National Toilet Day”

Ironic…considering the similarities

I’ve always said to myself, “Hey, how come there’s not a day where we can all celebrate toilets?”

After all, we all spend quite a bit of time during the course of our lifetimes using toilets. So why not celebrate that fact.

So, that’s exactly what the “United Nations General Assembly” decided to do. By adopting a resolution to mark “World Toilet Day.” Cripes, I’m so excited I’m actually flushed.

“World Toilet Day.”

Here’s the U.N. press release: “The amusement and laughter likely to follow the designation of 19 November as ‘World Toilet Day’ would all be worthwhile if people’s attention was drawn to the fact that 2.5 billion people lacked proper sanitation and 1.1 billion were forced to defecate in the open, the General Assembly heard today.”

Yes…a valid point. Especially that “defecating in the open” point. (for those of you not schooled in the English language, “defecating” means “pooping” and NOT destroying public property. As in “defacing”) Sometimes I have to make these things perfectly clear to some of my blog readers.

Possibly a reason some undeveloped countries have opted not to have a toilet

However, in New York City there is one restaurant that you can actually poop in the open. Or kinda. At least when you use that restaurant’s rest room. Because it seems like you’re pooping in the open. It’s because they have a novel door that allows you to see people walking by, as you’re pooping, but they can’t see in.

I personally pooped in that restroom, or at least attempted to poop, but, (sigh) could not. Even though I knew they couldn’t see in, but I could see out, it was very discomforting. It’s the, “what if” affect one has while sitting there and just thinking about, “what if.”  As in, what if they can really see in.

OMG! I was right. That’s me way over on the right peeing…..!!!!

Anyhow, the point to establishing “World Toilet Day” is to bring to light the poor sanitation conditions around the world as stated by Singapore’s U.N. representative who tabled the draft resolution.

We here in the U.S. take toilets for granted. I myself take my own toilet for granted. I really need to pay more attention to it and perhaps acknowledge its contribution to my household. Maybe an extra Glade freshener or two just to show my deep appreciation for all that it does.

And, considering the amount of crap it takes, with never any complaints, it so well deserves that recognition.toilet 6

Americans take toilets for granted. While other less developed countries do not have actual real honest to goodness toilets to take for granted. Which causes sanitation problems, disease, and all other sorts of unsanitary problems. Like flys……….my guess anyhow.

Not to mention that any toilet paper company in those other countries must be suffering from lack of sales. Unless toilet paper is available, just no toilets. Which then raises the question, WTF do they do with their toilet paper afterwards if they don’t have toilets?

Which could also explain how the rock group “The Surfari’s” came up with the record, “Wipe Out.” (they just changed it to a song about surfing so as not to nauseate anybody)

Then again….maybe they don’t use toilet paper in other countries

So basically “World Toilet Day” seems like a great idea to highlight the fact that 2.5 billion people lack proper sanitation and that 1.1 billion were forced to defecate, (poop) in the open. (excluding that restaurant in New York City and various animals in the forest)

Although I think we really need to address the fact that animals are still freely pooping in the forest. Only because if they too had sanitary places in which to poop we wouldn’t have to worry about walking in the forest and stepping in animal poop. I for one recognize the need for all animals to have sanitary bathroom facilities. (photo below)toilet 8

Might have to introduce my own legislation to the U.N. on that one.

So ya might wanna mark that date on your calendar. November 19th as “World Toilet Day.”

So how do you celebrate “World Toilet Day?”

I’m not quite sure. Maybe flushing a few extra times in honor of those who do not have toilets to flush. Perhaps posting videos on “You Tube,” “Twitter” and “Facebook” of you actually flushing a toilet. Maybe out of sympathy for people who do not have toilets, you could let your toilet overflow just to show that even though they do not have a toilet, there are some drawbacks.

Or perhaps volunteer to train someone who has never used a toilet……..toilet 12

And you people out there in the deep woods with no plumbing who still use outhouses…..hey… can get in on the action too. Yes, I know you’re all saying to yourselves, “Hey, our toilets don’t flush, so why shouldn’t we get some respect? What about us who have to poop out in the open?”

Yes, yes, I know. But you DO have a toilet. Ok, so it doesn’t flush. But you have a door for privacy and a nice wooden seat to sit on and you’re surrounded by nature. It’s not the same as those people in other countries that have to just squat in the woods and let er rip. And fend off crazed animals at the same time. Insects too. Like stinkin’ (literally) ants.

Which is where the phrase, “ants in your pants” comes from.

However some insects have adjusted to city living

So regardless of your toilet facilities, remember, there are people worse off than you. A flushing toilet or an outhouse….you’ve still got a toilet. So have some compassion here.

But…..having an outhouse does have its advantages

On November 19th, “World Toilet Day,” I for one will honor those without toilets.

By trekking out into the deep woods and finding the answer to the question that has alluded me for so long. Which is, “Does a bear s**t in the woods?” And if he does, does he too need sanitary conditions in which to poop. And what can I do to help.

One small step for, (watch out for poop) mankind, one giant leap for bears.

Just sayin.’

Well, you could start helping bears by putting down the seat.
